To use in-ear headphones in a live setting, additional equipment is required, such as a wired headphone amplifier or a wireless link with high audio quality. The latter allows the musician to move freely on stage without having to accept any loss of sound quality. An integrated dB limiter ensures safety, while a volume control allows each musician to adjust the volume individually. Devices such as the HearMix Pro also offer the option of integrating an ambient backdrop into the in-ear monitoring so that the stage and the audience can be better perceived.
