In the rehearsal room, the personal mix in the in-ear system can often sound different to what you are used to or expect. The voice in particular is usually reproduced clearly and cleanly via the in-ear headphones. Musicians may notice that they perceive or want to reproduce their voice differently. Often, a microphone comparison has already been carried out in advance in order to reproduce the voice as desired. If this is not the case, it can be helpful to test different microphones in order to optimally adjust the sound and coloration of the voice.
However, it also happens that artists work on different projects and therefore prefer different microphones depending on the project. This allows them to tailor the sound to the individual requirements of each project and achieve maximum flexibility.
